New CSS based DNN skin and Blog customisation for Rhoek.com

As you'll notice if you've visited this site before, I've just swapped skins to a new css based, Search Engine Optimised, sleek design.

I'll be making some amendments to the content, and further customising the blog module so it's laid out more like I want. However in the mean time I'd be really interested to find out what you guys think of the new design, so please leave a comment.

I'll be adding another post after I've finished all the customisation, outlining the advantages of the new design, and letting you in on a few future ideas.

First official Rhoek.com Newsletter

I've been thinking of having a Rhoek.com newsletter for a while now (a way for me to keep you informed of developments in the site and new skin releases), and anyone who's visited the site recently may have seen the register button I added a couple of weeks ago, some of which have signed up. So thanks to everyone who has registering with the site, and today I sent out the first monthly rhoek.com newsletter.

For those who haven't signed up I'm going to be including a link to the HTML version after each issue, links for these will appear in the blog and on a new "newsletter" page which I'll add shortly.

Rhoek.com joins Dotnetnuke Marketplace

I've added my first listing to the official dotnetnuke source for skins, containers, modules and all add-ons DNN related. The dotnetnuke marketplace

I think it's good that the dotnetnuke corporation are offering the same services as snowcovered does, with regards to it being another outlet for designers of skins and modules, it will be interesting to see what the differences between them are in terms of product listings and sales.

This will be a monthly e-letter listing any new template dontnetnuke skins and containers, as well as developments in the site and a list of the most recent blog entries.

The first email will go out on the 1st of December.

Rhoek.com running dotnetnuke version 04.07

I'm not a very technical designer when it comes to dotnetnuke, focusing more of my attention on skins, graphics and flash. However I decided today to make an attempt at upgrading the core framework for the site from version 04.05 to 04.07.

It's done, and seemed to go successfully. Below are a couple of links to blog posts highlighting how the upgrade process should be done.

Dotnetnuke and web design resources

As a web designer I have a set of websites which I visit on a regular basis, for information, inspiration, imagery, and tools. The new resources section of rhoek.com is going to contain links to these sites and web spaces. It's currently only containing 4 links, but this will be updated regularly and I will post entries in my blog whenever this happens.

I've just finished adding the new "skins" page to the site. This is going to be updated, along with the template skins posts to show all the available template packs from rhoek.com.

Google search result success

Decided to see how well rhoek.com is doing with regards to google search results and found that we rank quite highly for some decent search terms. In particular we're number one for DNN Design Blog, which is pretty cool considering that the blog version of rhoek.com is fairly new, at just over a week old. This is helped a great deal by the fact that the site has been around for a couple of years now, and has been related to DNN, skinning and design most of that period.
